Special Projects
Racheal Anilyse Art Initiative
Racheal Anilyse was an accomplished illustrator living in Connecticut. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Hartford School of Art. Born with a rare skin disease, Racheal had no fingers and created art with just the use of a thumb. She passed away on November 18, 2011 due to complications from her disease, just three days shy of her 28th birthday. It was Racheal’s wish that the people of Haiti have the opportunity to experience art in all its forms. Thus, this special initiative of the Rose Foundation was created.
This initiative will provide art classes for children in several schools that we are helping to rebuild, to provide an artists co-op, and to build the Racheal Anilyse Arts Center which will offer classes in art, music, dance and theatre. Our long-term goal is to send students from Haiti to study and earn a Bachelor’s in Fine Art Degree from universities in the United States.
